One of the most challenging parts of any new office design is coming up with a colour scheme that strikes the perfect balance between professionalism and aesthetics. Too often, our office spaces are too neutral and dull – they need an injection of colour in order to make them more inviting for visitors and staff alike. Follow these steps to ensure that your colour choices are perfect:

Step 1: Have a good think about what sort of mood you want your office design to embrace. If you want a relaxed, happy atmosphere to blossom, you will be looking at pastel colours; if you want to foster a serious environment, on the other hand, you will be looking at darker shades.

Step 2: Measure up your office and make note of each of these measurements, as the size of your space can have a drastic effect on how well colours work. For example, lighter colours tend to make a room feel big and open, whereas darker colours can make a small room feel even more enclosed.

Step 3: Once you have painted your office and everything is dry, you can begin looking at the colour of the artwork and furnishings that you would like to use in the space. Make sure that each piece of artwork and furniture is done in a colour that complements your walls, such as reds and earthy shades.

At the end of the day, using colour properly in your office design is not a difficult task to accomplish. All you have to do is take a look at a colour wheel and choose colours that work together well and complement each other. If you can, take samples and swatches with you when shopping to ensure the best match possible.
